The Coonawarra wine region is located on the limestone coast of South Australia. The area is defined by its Terra Rossa (Red) soil which is famously in a “cigar” shape along the coast approximately 4 hours drive south of Adelaide. Along with its unique soils, the region, while being 60km from the sea enjoys a cooling effect, making it ideal for full bodied reds. The Coonawarra has a reputation for producing Australia's best Cabernet Sauvignon, great for both drinking and cellaring. The region boasts some well-known brands including Wynns, Pepper Tree and Rymill.
