Being only 30 minutes’ drive from Adelaide, the “Hills” is the ideal cool climate wine destination in South Australia. The vines in the Adelaide Hills are grown in varying altitude up to 700m above sea level. The cooler climate (said to be 4-8 degrees cooler than the Barossa Valley), provides winemakers from this region with a clear point of difference amongst other regions in SA. This variation allows for quality wine production based on varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo and Pinot Grigio.

THIS REGION IS BEST KNOWN FOR:

  • Cool climate Shiraz
  • Chardonnay
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Tempranillo
  • Pinot Grigio
